Family Fun Day

We stopped at a bench next to the pond for our picnic.

I had to show Tristan how we used to smash chips on our sandwiches when we were kids, he liked the idea.

Tex was laughing because I got this cute little curly Q in my hair, he had to take a picture of it.

Even the turtles where out enjoying the weather.

 Tex and his tree's.

What a wonderful day with my family!
Love you baby!

Best Buds!

Monday brought on the sadness of friends heading home. While Suzette took the older kids to their Dr's appointment I kept TJ and Kiesen and went to the park. They are so cute together! We played some frisbee, then headed home for some sidewalk art.

I had origianlly planned to take Monday off for a recovery day, thanks to Angee for covering for me!
Since the race was shortened I was not to sore so it ended up just being a great day by the pool again with friends!

Recovery Day

Sunday was a day of relaxation and reflection. We hung out by the pool and caught up on life.

Loved how Tierra saw Patti undo her strap and then copied her : )

Best buds!

What a difference a week makes. Last week I had to be right by his side in the pool, now he is launching himself off the waterfall.

Then he crashed on the lawn chair.

Sheree and Paige came to join the party.

Sue Z Q made dinner since I was supposed to be recovering.
Thanks Sue! It was yummy!

The kids found the goodie trays!
MMMM

Another fabulous day!

The Boise Weekly by Emily Anderson

The following article and photo appeared in the Boise Weekly  following the race. Note the commentation 1/2 way through the article from my dear sister as well as my fine husband. I can see Tex waving the cowbell as we speak! Love you both!

Cloudy with a side of headwinds (oh, and lots of rain). The weather order on Saturday, June 9, for the 2012 Ironman race was certainly not what racers or their fans anticipated when they woke up that morning. By noon, when the first leg of the race dipped into Lucky Peak, the Gem State's signature fickle weather wasn't showing any signs of budging graciously for the event.

Still, despite the cold and rain, there were victories—more than expected, actually. New Zealand natives Callum Millward and Matty Reed made Ironman history when they crossed the finish line together in 2 hours, 13 minutes and 18 seconds. After three hours of deliberation, both were awarded $10,000 winner's checks. In the women's race, Jodie Swallow of Great Britain finished at the head of the pack, with a time of 2 hours, 29 minutes.

I've never been so cold in my life," exclaimed A.J. Baucco, a veteran Ironmanner from Ohio who remained at the front of the pack during the race. Baucco was the 24th person to cross the finish line. I've done a lot of these: New Orleans, Kansas, Mexico, fuck, you name it. And that sucked."
Officials of the race concurred, even if they didn't describe the conditions in the same explicit terms. The race's biking portion was drastically amputated due to the chilling conditions and alarming headwinds, leaving 12 miles to pedal over, rather than the usual 50-plus. While this was done with the racers' safety in mind, not everyone breathed a sigh of relief in light of the decision.

As athlete Lynette Horton pulled through the 50-degree water, her sister Patty said, "When they took the bike off, we both started crying. All that hard work and its not really a full Ironman."

Baucco agreed, "I would have rather had a longer bike."

But spirits weren't irredeemably droopy, though, even with the race modifications. Even Patty said in a relatively chipper tone, "I told her, 'OK, you will have to do another one with me, but can we just do it someplace warm, like, I dunno, New Zealand or Cancun?'"/p>

Before long, the jangling cow bells amplified, grandmas and grandkids began swaying their hips along with the loudspeaker, and Tex, a dapper man in the crowd, egged it all on with impressions of Saturday Night Live skits:

"We need more cow bell!" he yelled.

Enthusiasm only increased as the race progressed into BODO. Amusing and absurd quips were scrawled onto posters that peppered the crowd. Top favorites included: "That's not sweat. It's your fat cells crying," and "My mom is hotter than your mom." The former came with red-and-orange paper mache flames and four energetic kids, and the latter was crafted specially for racer Kim Sharmon of Washington, and signaled a shift in the race's initially beleaguered atmosphere.

Mother nature even took a hint, and the race ended on a rejuvenatingly sunny note. The amount of soggy and sobbing children dwindled and racers' bone-white bare feet and bluish lips returned to a color that didn't seem like they all stepped out of The Adams Family. As late afternoon crept forward, it was time for delicious hot bevys, blinding silver space blankets, and warm food from BODO's restaurants and local vendors. And maybe even a well-deserved nap.

Boise Ironman 70.3

It is race day. A summation of months of training, sacrifice, and strength.
Before heading out to the lake I had to drop off my bag at T2 downtown.

My soul sister.

Well, this is not quit the day I had been dreaming of...

While waiting for the race to begin, race officials announced that the swim would go as planned, however, the bike would be shortened to 15 miles. My face fell and my heart sank. Today would not be the day that I complete my 1/2 Ironman.
Do to high winds and cold temperatures they shortened the bike course for the safety of the athletes.
Temperatures outside were in the forty's and winds on the bike coarse were high enough the officials were concerned of hypothermia.

Your kidding right?

Out of the water in 48 minutes...
great swim!

First loop of the 13 mile run.

Just after making my first loop I headed south along the green belt. It was just as I began to suck air that I saw this sign. The first thing I though was... "this could not be for me", but then I looked and I thought to myself... "but my name is spelled right?" It was just then that I saw Christy and Ike! Boy I really needed it too! Thanks Guys!

Some great pictures approaching the finish! Thanks Christy!

Support from all of my friends and family. I am so blessed!

As I approached the finish line I saw many friends and family, Doug, Angee, KG, Flower, River, Carol, of course Mom, Lisa, Patti, Tex, Hanna, Tristan, Suzette, Trevan, Morgan, Tierra, Kiesan, Christy, Ike (both whom met me at mile 8 with clickers and signage). Sheree was at the swim but was caught playing ball due to the time restrains once the race was shortened.

I know many more were tracking me online and cheering me on. It was not quit the day I wanted it to be but because of every one's support I could not be more grateful.

Thanks to all of you!

Now I just have to figure out which one I will run next.

Patti brought me some beautiful tropical flowers and 2 lei's.
Thank you soul sister!

Mom brought me a dozen lovely red roses.
Thank you mom!
