"Another lovely beach day and we saw more ancient ruins (Akrotiri is like Pompeii, but Akrotiri was buried by a volcanic eruption 1,600 years earlier…and no bodies have been found). We had a fun final dinner as we prepare to head home. This has been such a great group - family, friends, mixed ages and all good energy. Safe travels home everyone!"

Today we went to Akrotiri, the ancient ruins discovered after a volcanic eruption more than 1600 years ago. This pristine city buried in volcanic ash is much like Pompeii however they believe the inhabitant of that time for sought the eruption and tried to evacuate but since no human remains have been found they believe they were destroyed in the tsunami that followed the eruption. The ancient city id covered to preserve it and it is still and active excavation site today. The amount of archeological site that are still buried simply amaze me! Visiting these sites just make you stop and think.
After this added stop it was off for some beach time. Though we have been staying right on the beach we have not spent much time there yet. Today was perfect.
We finished the day with our farewell dinner which provided entirely too much foor though it was amazing!
After dinner Sheree, Tristan and I accompanied Paige to get her tattoo of The Poseidon which turned out amazing! Great vibes for all!
