Santorini by land and Estate Argyros, one of the oldest wineries in Santorini

"Tasting wines at Santorini‘s oldest winery. Like we saw in Athens’ Attica region, they grow the grapes in a bush style, or even train them into a kolura/circular ring to protect the grapes from sun and wind and to capture as much humidity as they can. It’s fascinating how wine makers work with mother nature to best produce their wines."

Lynette

Our day started with a tour by land with whom we would soon find to be an amazingly funny, witty, and sentimental guide names Izzy. He delighted us throughout the morning tour of Oia with his well told stories of the island as well as his personal musical career. He shared with us his own Greek music by both song and instrument.

We stopped for lunch at a local Gyro stand which was delightful. I chose pork with Tzatziki, it was yummy!

The explanation of the grape vines was also interesting to learn. This was my favorite wine stop. The rose was my favorite. The views here were stunning.

After some rest and relaxation I decided I needed to go to the corner Gelato Stand to have some waffle bites with nutella and vanilla gelato.

Another fine day in Santorini

Santorini by sea

Today we see Santorini by boat with opportunities to swim, relax, and eat. Wat could be better?
We saw the white capped mountain towns, the red, the white, and the black sand beaches. All the elements from the eruption 3000 years ago. It started out as an overcast day but shaped up to be a beautiful day. Which is awesome because Lynette swapped the day later in the trip as there was weather in the forecast for the originally scheduled day.

There were 3 swimming spots and the water was a cool 70 degrees. A bit brisk at first but lovely once you acclimated.

We swam in the center of the caldera which is where the hot pots are. Funny moment when the boat pulled away to relocate for incoming boats and we were still in the water.
the lunch on board was fantastic! Grilled chicken, cooked right on the boat, spaghetti will local tomato sauce, Greek salad and yes Tzatziki!

The ride back along the coast was simply stunning!

Once we got back to the hotel Sheree invited us all up for a swim on her roof top deck. Man, what a view! There was more wine and we all brought snacks to share.

Later in the evening we headed to Poco Loco for some yummy pizza to share.

"Pizza Tiiiiime!
