Iceland - Hofn to Alfheimar then onto Akureyi

The land of 10,000 waterfalls
We left Hofn and headed to Alfheimar. It was a dicey drive as some weather had set in. We ended up skipping Seyoisfjorour, which is where The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was filmed. Man am I blessed with a husband who is willing and loves to drive.
We stopped at Studlagil Canyon, which I had planned to jump in but it was way too fast and way too cold, we opted for the scenic overlook instead. Simply stunning.
Our first hot spring was the Vok Baths. Here you can rest in the geothermal pools and even jump in the chilly lake for some ice therapy. The kids both jumped in, I took more of a casual dip.
We stayed in a quaint little hotel on the water in the fishing town of Bakkagerli, we were all so tired we just went to sleep. When we woke we headed to the Puffin Wall, we were so close we could have touched them. They are nesting now and it was amazing to watch them fish and return to their cave to feed their young. We never saw any babbles, they were nestled in their cave.
We then headed to Akureyi. On our way we made a few stops. We stopped at the Krafla Crater, then hot springs number two, The Myvatn Natural Baths. These baths were more like the Blue Lagoon from our first trip. So beautiful.
Once we arrived in Akureyri, we had a day of shopping. Sunday we went to the Geosea Bath, I think this is my new favorite hot pool. We watched whales off the infinity edge and enjoyed the beautiful views that we were blessed with today.
On the way back to Akureyri we stopped at the Godasfoss Waterfall. We wrapped up out little stay with a wonderful sushi dinner and walked through the neighborhood taking some fun photos.
What a great few days!
