Free Stylin

Sunday we decided to get a few more runs in before we
headed home. Tamarack was hosting a Frestyle race for the kids and it was slated for noon so Tristan was all in. He didn't place but they all got prizes. Pretty good for a first timer. Good thing Auntie brought her camera because I was pictured out and left mine at home. Thanks Auntie!

Jerrod & Angela's Wedding

Well, it's been years in the making. They finally did it! Really awesome to see the kids involved.
Congrats guys!

Day 3 Three generations of skiing

Saturday brought some new excitement. For the first time ever I would get to ski with both my dad as well as my son. When I told Tristan over New Years that Pappa would be coming skiing, he said Pappa was "too old". Well Pappa showed him today!

Yes, I really asked Dad to take this picture with Tristan, bad thing was Dad;s head did not fit in the hole : ) lol!

"Off we go into the wild blue yonder riding high into the sky"

Day 2 with my Hero

Day 2 proved to be one of the most memorable of my life. We spent the first half of the morning on the bunny hill. Dad and I worked on our skills while Lisa looked on. By lunch time we all grabbed a bite to eat. We reminisced about how we used to pack our lunch and eat on the side of the mountain. We would never go into the lodge and buy lunch. After we ate Lisa set up camp on her computer and Dad and I went up to mid mountain. While riding up I was trying to decide if we should take the beginner hill or the intermediate? My mind was torn. The beginner hill was a "cat track" we hate "cat tracks" so intermediate it was.

Dad began working his turns two to three at a time. The mountain was a bit narrow at the top and he was very nervous to make the turn with the increase in the steepness of the mountain. I skied in front of Dad and he would make about two to three turns and then we would stop and chat about it. We did this about three times. It was then the mountain terrain widened and I felt comfortable taking a few turns down the mountain in front of him. It was then that it all changed.

Dad would be talking to himself as he worked his way down the mountain but it wasn't until he watched me make those turns and was able to copy me that you could really see his excitement.
"I did it, I really really did it". He would say.
"I can't believe it! I did it!" He said.

Once he realized his ability it was just like old times. Skiing with my Dad. The video footage really just does not do it justice. This was truly a priceless day!

This picture says it all!
I love you so much Dad!
Thanks for making another memory I will never forget.

Lisa's base camp! I love her!

Yep, we still do puzzles and Tristan joined in the fun!

My Dad, My Hero

For 6 years now, as Dad has fought daily to strive for his recovery new challenges have never slowed him down. I can not begin to express how blessed that he is still in my life.

Today Dad would be faced with another new challenge, skiing. When I was 2 years old my dad taught me how to ski. When Tristan was 18 months I taught him how to ski. Today dad is getting back on ski's for the first time since his accident in Italy. We have two days until Tristan gets here to ski with his PaPa. Time to get to work.

Dad and Tex shared equipment some years ago so I had Dad try on Tex's gear. Worked like a charm!

Trying on Boots

Checking out his new coat.

We arrived at Tamarack about 2:30, just enough time to unload the truck and get out to the hill for an hour on the slopes. I thought this would be really important for Dad as since his accident it takes him a bit longer to process things. I figured if we got an hour in he would have the night to process it before we got out there again.

My plan was to video the first run but I was a little pre occupied with dad's safety rather than the camera.

Strapping on the ski's and getting on the lift was just like old times. Getting off the lift the first time posed a bit of a problem, he lost his balance and simply fell backwards. It was a little tough for him to get up from the flat. He later told me "this really made him mad".

Once we got him up he took off like he had not missed a day. I was literally about ready to die. He was out of control. My heart sank. Please don't hit anything. I was yelling push your ski's out! Dad made the turn and finally came to a stop. I caught up with him and we had a little chat about snow plowing. He then told me that he thought in his mind it would be easier. He remembers the snow plow and picked that back up very easily. Finally I could breathe!

Notice Lisa on the ground in the back ground. She hung out with us on the hill the entire weekend, it was amazing!

Dad and I spent the next hour on the Discovery Chair practicing our turns and regaining his balance. Once the lift had closed we went in to get the tickets for the next couple of days. Cool thing was Dad found out that he did not need a lift ticket as individuals 70 years of age and older ski for free, he could not get over this. It was hilarious!

Happy Birthday to the love of my life!

I can't believe my love is turning 50! My original plan was to take him to Vegas but there was no way I could take all of you. So surprise it is! 70 RSVP's, a good catering company, plus a yummy cake and a whole, whole lot of LOVE! You could feel the love in the room. It was amazing!

There was so much to the set up. Ricardo had to be out of town, Angee had to be away from the office. The set up. Water leak in the clubhouse. Funny thing was Tex did not get nearly as angry as I thought he would. Since the basketball game ended at 5 Tex Trista and I had an hour to kill. We stopped and got a couple of snacks and then went for a drive out to the damn. Then the call came in and we were off to the clubhouse.

When we arrived, Tex chose to go in the back door strait to the bathroom. No leak... I am thinking oh no! He then walks down the hall and it hits him...
SURPRISE!
Thank you everyone for helping me pull this off and make it so special. Tex was truly touched.

I love you so much!
