2 hours of serenity....

This was our room at The Kona Village. They were so cool. Each guest had their own hut. The master bedroom was split by a bath and had a living area on the other side. Out hut sat on the lagoon.

Patti, Tex, Tristan and I went to have dinner before the show.

Kona Community Chorus

The best two hours on our trip were spent on the beach with Tristan sleeping on my chest and watching the waves roll in.

Tonight we will take the red eye back to the mainland. See you all soon!

The Kona Village

Today we are off to The Kona Village resort for the night. Dad & sue are performing there with the chorus and for all of you stalkers I will probably not blog any more until I get home. No TV, Phones, or Internet there! Hallelujah, one day of peace!

Place of Refuge

Today we went south, to the Place of Refuge. This is a cite that is not only one of the most sacred on the island but also in the world. The Place of Refuge was a sanctuary for those escaping prosecution from the king. If you were being sought after by the kings army and you made it here, you were exonerated of all charges and free.

On our way home we stopped at the store to get ready for a party Patti had planned for her contractor, Chet and his family, as well as dad and Sue. It was a wonderful evening of new friend and family.

Cool, new water feature Patti put in her house during the remodel.

The write off day...

Well today we worked all day. Patti and I spent about 5 hours working together and then we spent the rest of the day moving furniture into her house for the upcoming party she is having. When we finished moving the furniture we went down to the village and ate at the Canoe Club on the water. We chatted about tomorrows activities and watched a hula class on the beach! That would be inspiration!

MMM, fruity beverage!

Nice Mai Tai Tristan!

OK, he did not drink any!

Waipio Valley

Today we packed a lunch and headed to Waipio Valley. Waipio Valley is the first in several valleys on the big island. This particular Valley was destroyed by a tsunami in the early 1900's. There is a beautiful black sand beach there and you can only drive down to the bottom with a 4 wheel drive do to a very traitorous road and a 25% grade. I had never been down to the bottom before today. We ate lunch on the back of the pick up before going to the beach to play.

Tristan had fun playing in the field with Tasha before going down to the beach. It is rather funny that he is afraid of her at times but follow her when she is running around. It was so cute.

At the head of this valley lies the largest waterfall on the island. You can not see it from this beach but it forms a river which meets the ocean here.

Tristan was a little afraid of the high surf but really enjoyed playing in the sand. So did dad!

In this valley there are many wild horses that roan the valley floor.

Here is a picture of the waterfall. We drove to it after we left the beach. It is not running very high right now as there has not been a large amount of rain.

Here is a shot of the road coming out.

These photo's were taken from the observation point at the top of the valley. You can see were the river comes in to the ocean, that is were we were playing.

Aloha from Waipio
