Out with the old in with the new!

What a year! This year has been a busy one and through all the ups and downs you find yourself just trying to slow down. After being sick for a couple days and passing it on to tex we decided to head out to dinner with the Jensen's and then come back to our house for a fire and some games to ring in the new year.

We heard a party going on upstairs so we snuck out on the porch to spy on the kids and we saw them having their own dance party! I love that they know how to have fun!

Tex, bless his heart went outside and got our little fire pit all ready even though he was not feeling well.

This year Angee and I have really been working on self love and putting ourselves first. We had written down all of the things that we wanted to leave in 2018 and planned to burn them in the fire. In the next breath we wrote down those things we wanted to achieve. After burning our fears we read our hopes by fire lite. I love that the kids joined in in the "ceremony", I love how thoughtful our kids our. After letting go of the past and planning for the future we celebrated with s'mores. Then it was time to head in for some games. Telestrations and Relative Insanity. It was such a supper fun night! I would not have wanted to spend it with anyone else!

Happy 2019 Everyone!

I love to celebrate my birthday with my boys every year

We have a tradition every year to celebrate my birthday. Tex, Tristan and I go down town and spend the night on the town. We go to dinner, go to a movie, swim or just hang out. This year we stayed at the new Residence Inn by Marriott. The room was beautiful. You know when Tristan was just a baby, if we had a place with a big closet we would make Tristan a little bed in there. He loved it. I would say that he does not fit any more : 0.

After we settled in we headed across the street to BODO for dinner and a movie. We opted for just appetizers at PF Chang's since we new we were going to have popcorn : )
Then it was off to see Bumblebee which was super cute!

After a good nights rest we headed off to The Fork for some brunch but we didn't know that they did not serve brunch during the week so we opted for lunch.

Anther fabulous night out with my boys!

Christ our Savior was born

Well, another year has passed. As always, Tristan is the first one up. We always allow Tristan to go down and see what Santa brought. I loved seeing him unpack the new manger. To simply be reminded that this holiday, though filled with gifts, is about something more. Daddy and Auntie were the next up, Shivani, well she took a little more convincing. Man that girl can sleep : ) Tex allowed Tristan to go wake her up with the air horn and that seemed to do the trick. After we all opened our stockings Tristan kept up with the family tradition of the youngest child handing out the gifts. Yes, we still do it one at a time. This way we enjoy the day a bit more with our loved one's. We took a short break to enjoy some breakfast caserole. Then what you might ask? Everyone settle down for a long winters nap.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The Stockings Were Hung...

This year Christmas is very low key. We invited Shivani over to spend the holiday with us as she was away from family for the first time. Lisa also came over. We spent the evening making ginger bread cookies and trains, watching Hallmark and just having fun!

The jury is still out to know weather Tristan still believes in Santa. I think he does. Regardless he did still put out cookies and milk, Tristan then went to bed and I was up getting things ready for morning.

There was a new addition to the tree this year which I absolutely loved. Our friend Lonny made all of the children in our Life Group a manger. Te manger is to represent that Christmas is about more than just gifts and get together but that it is about the birth of Jesus. They put all of their gifts under the tree Christmas Morning in the Manger that would normally come from Santa. I love the idea! The manger was a lovely addition!
