Play Date...

My girlfriend Kari has been watching a little boy named David for a few months. He is about the same age as TJ and better yet, he is about the same size. Kari and I get together often and they play so well together that we are going to start having weekly play dates. Here are a few photo's from our first visit!

National Geographic Moment

A couple weeks ago we had a softball tournament here in Boise. Sunday morning we had the 9 am game. For those of you who know the bracket world of softball, this means we lost a game on Saturday. Not the most optimal game that you would like. In a perfect world you would like the 1145 game which is the undefeated game and the winner of that goes into the championships.

Anyway, this particular Sunday was a treat because we saw the first batch of baby geese for the year had been born. 4 babies had just escaped their nest. Why was this so special you may ask? Well, these baby geese were not just born anywhere.

There had been talk over that last week how a pair of geese had taken over a osprey nest atop one of the light poles on field 2.

The osprey had been seen being run off by the two geese and when some of our team members arrived they heard a PLOP... Ron turned around to see a baby goose had fallen from high above. A little shaken the baby got up, took a little shake and began to walk around. Down flew one of the adult geese to heard up the baby. Ron could hear the confusion coming from above. As he looked UP he could see the other older goose trying to push the babies out of the nest. PLOP-Thud, out came another... PLOP-THUD. The thud comes from the second hop the babies take from the height of the fall. Three down two to go. Now most of the team was arriving and many people were watching in disbelief. Why you might add? Look at the height of the pole! Our team was in the dugout just to the right of the pole along the fence line, LOOK AT THE PERSPECTIVE!

PLOP-THUD, down came number 4 and down flew the goose. But that was not all of the babies. The geese were squawking hysterically and being very aggressive to those around. PLOP-THUD, are you kidding they made the 4th baby jump all by himself. Look at the goose at the top right and his aggressive behavior. He is protecting the others.

This was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen and one of the many reasons we love to be out playing softball with our friends!

Thanks to Julie for getting the photo's because I had forgotten my camera...Thanks Jules!

Shoshone Falls, highest in 30 years!

Well, the falls are higher than they have been in thirty years so we thought it would be a good time to drive over and take a look. Last Monday mom, Tex, Tristan, and I drove over in the afternoon. We stopped at Subway and picked up some sandwiches for the drive. Mom had never been there. Tex and I went when we first started dating. It was as beautiful as they have said!

Leave it to Mom and Tex to find a place to shop anywhere they go.

For those of you whom may never see these falls... here you go!

An e-mail sent from Sue to all of the children.

Sue, sent out this e-mail today and it was so funny that I asked her if I could share it. I opened it at the office and I swear I laughed for 10 minutes straight!

Enjoy!

There are so many things that occur these days that make me laugh and some even make me cry with joy. Your Dad continues to improve everyday. He has a wonderful sense of humor and seems to find joy just being alive. All the information Patti, Lynnette and I were given at the hospital about physical disabilities, speech problems, possible lack of emotion just have not "come to fruition" and I am grateful everyday for this man that surprises me with his laughter, humor and intelligence. In short, I feel blessed. You must all be very proud of this strong father.

Here is the latest laugh:

Sunday nights is "put the garbage out night". Well, Sunday after Len had put the garbage out at the curb, he came back upstairs just in his underwear. "Len", I said,"did you wear your underwear outside?" "NO", he said,"I took them off"
I just broke up laughing and he gave me that crooked smile that has been a part of him since the accident.

Here is one of many things that makes me cry with joy:

While our handyman,Jerry, was here today, he told me that he works on cars. Len's car has been under the car cover since we arrived home and has been a constant reminder to me that Len is not driving. I mentioned to Jerry that Len's car battery needed to be charged and he said we could use the battery charger that was on the work bench( I bought it a while back to use on my car while we are traveling so I don't have a dead battery when we get home) I told Jerry that we needed to wait until Len got home to ask him. Len wouldn't like us messing with his car. When Len arrived home we told him that I needed to get the car running and reminded him about the battery charger. He agreed to it and said he would go get the keys for the car.
I went upstairs and kept waiting for Len to come up. Finally I went down to the garage to see where he was and there was Len on top of the car very carefully taking the cover off. It probably sounds silly to all of you but it took my breath away. He got in the car and boy did he look good behind the wheel. I could tell he felt good too.

We were also given a Welcome Home party by John Stover, Bayardo Aviles and the Chorus Board on Sunday and I have included a photo of the event.

Twilight Classic 2009

This weekend was our first tournament of the year. It was the Co-Ed Twilight Classic. Lisa was off so I was fortunate enough to have her spend the weekend with us and watch TJ while we were playing.

We won our first game Saturday pretty easily, unfortunately I did not have the camera out because it was at 8AM.

Excuses, Excuses!

Sheree do you have some attitude today?

I love this shot!

It's the hands Johnny.

My Hubby making a play!

Trent rounding third.

Anna Marie rounding 3rd.

With all of this rounding third you would think that we might have one... but we lost by one run in the bottom of the 7th. The good news was that in the top of the 7th we were down by one and two people on base. I had a great hit to right center and scored the two runs for us to go into the bottom of the 7th. I love to hit it over the guys heads!

Honu

After we got back from California we went to get the mail and there was a box address to Tristan from Grandma & Grandpa in Hawaii. Inside was the cutest green Honu, or turtle. Trista has been packing it around with him since it arrived! Thanks Grandma Sue & Grandpa Lenny! We can't wait to see you in a month!

Easter Sunday

Well, the kids were up bright and early. In fact Colin was a little eager by waking up Carrie. After searching their baskets they were off to find the golder egg. Carrie read the first clue and they were off. She even invited Tristan, it was so cute! The kids had a little bit of a melt down but before long they were cracking open the golden egg. Inside their was a surprise for each of them and enough M & M's for everyone to nibble on throughout the day.

The kids were taking a short break when all of the sudden Tristan began to find some eggs so then the egg hunt was on. The funny thing was that when the kids began to find the eggs, they also found that a robin had pecked a number of eggs in the yard. This would have not been too terrible had we not been using the eggs for breakfast too. The good news was there were plenty of eggs for everyone!

MMMM Tristan loves the M & M's!

Uncle Steve was not too into the egg hunt.

The egg fight... PK, everyone takes an egg and there are two sides to every egg. There is a pointy side and a round side. Each person takes their egg and with a partner you count to three and you "smack" the end of you egg. One side will break one side will not. Once everyone has hit one side of their egg you switch to the other end. When everyone is done there should be a winner! Then you peel the egg and eat it for brunch, what fun!

After brunch the kids went outside to play, it was a beautiful day! Tristan loved being able to run in the back yard!

The girls were so good with Tristan!

Sunday evening Tex and I had ticket to see Britney Spears. We have had tickets for month and Gail was so gracious to babysit! I was sure this was going to be a great "show" and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I am not a huge Britney fan but the production was simple amazing! The Pussycat Dolls opened for her and then their was a "Circus" act... thus the tour name...Circus. Then it was time for Britney! It was absolutely spectacular and I am not even a fan!
