Road Trippin' Highway 101

Tex and I have been wanting to take a road trip for years. While Tristan was so young and often does not even like driving to McCall we were always worried. This year we decided what the heck! We had planned to drive to Bend the first night, then through Sun River and finally Portland the following day. This rainbow would be a sure sign that it was going to be a great tip!

Sun River. If you recall I was planning on running an Olympic Tri here a few years ago, because I ended up having surgery that year, I ended up only doing a 10 K with the girls. It was super fun! I am looking forward to competing in the tri next summer. Ironically the Pacific Crest Event was setting up while we were there.

Instead of racing, it was all about bumper cars and trains!

One of the reasons for a stop in Sun River was so Tex could try to find a Pottery guys that he has seen when we were here on the last trip. As you know my husband is a bit of a collector. The artist was not in Sun River as they rotate exhibits but they did know where to send us unfortunately they were no where to be found.

And he is out!

Mt Hood was pretty much socked in. This post card was the best view we got.
Hard to believe that this mountain was right behind those rain clouds.

We found this cute little Pizza place.

Then we had to see what this Voodoo Doughnut thing was all about...

Now I know, my apple fritter was to die for!

Since it was pouring rain we opted not to camp.  We found this cute little, refurbished hotel called Hotel Rose. The gave you complimentary cupcakes, to bad they were really nasty: ) Super cute hotel though!

This was my husbands idea of cooling off the room...
Really?

All in all a fabulous start to a road trip.
