Hawaii wrap up.

It was a bit of a rough start to this Hawaii visit. Tristan an I had a bit of a cold last week that Tex picked up the day before we left. I was just about over the cold but the plain fired it back up. Tex on the other hand ended up with an ear infection after not being able to equalize his ears following the flight.

Because of the cold we didn't celebrate with shooter too much. Tristan and I were able to go to breakfast with her after Ironman but Tex laid pretty low.

After taking Patty to the airport on Sunday Tristan and I hit the beach and of coarse Shave Ice!

We stayed one last night at Patti's house and let Grammy know we had been sick but she welcomed us with open arms. We then headed over to spend the rest of the week at Grammy and Pa Pa's new home. And I must say it truly is stunning. Grammy and Auntie Lesa did a wonderful job on their new oasis!

Since I was having so much camera trouble on this trip, most of my photo's were taken with my phone. Tex, however, got some great shot with his Ipad. Here are two of my favorites of Dad enjoying the view from their new home.

One of our outings was to Lava Java for some breakfast. Lava Java is one of my favorite places. It is right on Alli Drive and I have shared many of my life's stories sipping some island java right here. It is always a must!

We made a couple trips to the Keiki pond. On the first trip I showed Tristan what a sea urchin was. This was not a great thing because he was not afraid of sea urchin's. The good news was when we returned to snorkel with Pa Pa there was a family there with a sea urchin on a boogie board and they showed it to Tristan and let him hold it. The fear was now over and Tristan was ready to go.  This was and exciting day as Tristan, Pa Pa and I saw and Eel, along with lots of other fish!

This was a great day!

Grammy and Auntie Lesa Put in this wonderful fire pit that is perfect for roasting marshmallows with the grand kids... oh, and the grand kids (and kids) love it!

Swimming in Grammy and Pa Pa's pool.

Why did the Turkey Cross the road?

Because they could : )

Beautiful flowers on display the night we went out to dinner at Rays on the Bay. The dinner photo's did not turn out so well and it is really too bad as we had a beautiful table and a fabulous meal!

One of the days that Tex was up to going out we went to the State beach by the marina. Tex loves this beach. There is some good shade and there are always sea turtles to be found. Today was no exception. Today was also the very first day that Tristan swam with a turtle.

Stopped at The Fish Hopper for some chowder and Tristan had a virgin Lava Flow.

The view from the scenic overlook.

While we were visiting the islands a tropical storm manifested itself in the Pacific, they named her Ana. Ana was scheduled to make landfall the night of our departure. Lucky for us it veered west but it made for interesting conversation for a few days. Apparently this is how you wait for a Hurricane in Hawaii.

Since Patti and I had such a brief visit I told here I would run a few of her errands for her after she left. One of those was to mail off some coconuts they had done while they were here in July. When we took then to the post office they told us we needed to take them to the airport for agriculture stamps. Since we were doing that we thought we would let Tristan mail some. So we loaded up all of the coconuts once we got them all decorated and headed back to Hanualoa. Unfortunately we missed it by 2 minutes but she was nice enough to open the door for us. Once she found out I was Hairy Cows Idaho Mom all was good in the world. You know you are a celebrity when the postal carriers know who you are by what you mail. Love the islands!
