Monday was a travel day. We rented a car in Panama City with the intent to drive to Orlando. Tex took me along the coast and down the back roads which is something he loves to do. We stopped at a cute little BBQ place for dinner but the drive took us about 9 hours where we thought it was going to be about 5.5. We got into our hotel about 930pm. We are staying at The Animal Kingdom Lodge in Disney World Orlando. These are a couple pictures I stole off line.
Upon check in we received our "Magic Bands", this is new technology to allow you access to your rooms, parks, and yes, spending (which could be dangerous but since I am not a shopper I am good).
Love the technology, it is so futuristic. Oh, it also gives you access to any pictures they take of you in the park which is awesome!
Here is our room upon arrival.
One of the reasons I wanted to stay here was the view of the
animals from your room. Since we opted out of the Africa trip this
year, this is probably the closest I will get to a Savannah view and let
me tell you I think is completely did it justice!
We loved this animal checklist that was in the room. Tristan had a blast figuring out which animals were which.
We thought we would hit Hard Rock before we returned the car, yes Tex won out! Here we are at Universal Studios. We did not go inside. We were able to take The City Walk and just check things out and eat. Tex was a happy man and Tristan handled it very well.
Ok, we finally made it! The Magic Kingdom awaits!
Tristan had a hard time realizing that most of the rides were inside buildings. He kept asking if we were at Disney World yet? He expected it to look like the games and rides at the fair. It did not take him long to figure it out. First on the agenda was Buzz Light Year. This was like a giant neon video game that we were immersed in! He loved it!
We had to do the Mad Hatter Tea Cups for Auntie Patti by request.
The People Mover which helped us check out Future World.
The Astro Orbitor
Tristan had a blast driving the car at The Speedway at least when Tex was not hitting us : )
One of my personal favorites!
It's A Small World
We stopped by The Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
This was an interactive show that actually worked off the audience live. It was awesome!
Pretty big day which was capped of with the fireworks extravaganza at the castle.
We capped the night off with some homemade ice cream before heading back to the room.
The lobby of our hotel is amazing. There is a TV with round the clock Disney cartoon playing with rockers that fit the children perfectly. Tristan loves to hang out there.
An amazing first day!
