Today was a travel day, they are always very tiring. Before we left Inyati Tristan had to do one last "floss" with the staff. Then we were off for a 2 hour drive, then a 2 hour flight, then we were transported to Zimbabwe where we walked across the Zambezi River to Zambia. We were grated with horderves and champagne, we had the opportunity to bungee jump, zip line, or swing... needles to say doing any of these in a foreign country was petrifying.
After our trip across the bridge and our path through immigration we were off on a jetty to our next accommodation the Victoria Crescent. We would spend the next three days "glamping" in tents. Ya tents, these were more like houses with tent siding. We were escorted to our room where we where given explicit instruction that we could walk to and from the lodge during daylight but once the sun went down we were to call for a ride. As we got settled into our room we enjoyed some coffee and were visiting on the porch, it was then when Tristan said, "elephant". We were like ya whatever. No Tristan said, "elephant". Sure enough we turned around and there was an elephant walking up to our room. Tex and I walked closer to take photos and Tristan ran into the room to get his camera. It was then we herd a big BANG! I went running to the front of the room and Tristan had closed the sliding glass door behind himself and when he came back out he ran smack into it with his head. Needless to say he was crying the elephant ran away and the sliding glass door had been knocked off it's tracks. Tristan had a goose egg on his head and he did not think it was funny that we were laughing at him.
Once we got Tristan calmed down we headed back to the lodge for supper. Food on this trip has been truly amazing. I swear we have not eaten the same thing twice. After dinner we were treated to a village am fire where we were cerinated by snorting hippo's. For a travel day it was pretty spectacular!
