Sorry for the lack of an update yesterday, I was in a bit of a funk, but back to the business at hand!
I spoke with Sue about 20 minuets ago & they were just back from visiting dad. They removed the intubation tube & did the tracheotomy. Sue said that dad appears much more comfortable. I the big news of the day is that Dad smiled at them today, more than once. I don't know what this looked like & don't really care, he smiled! Dad is inside his beat up body and he is letting us know it! There were no Dr around today, but Patti was told that he would spend another 10-15 days in the ICU after the tracheotomy and then be moved to another part of the hospital. We are looking into when he may be able to travel to explore the options of moving him to another facility in Austria. Dad & Sue have a friend in Austria that is associated with the Sigmund Freud Klinik in Graz. This appears to be a top notched facility for all levels of care for dad. More to come on that later.
Do your best to avoid "the funk", it's no fun & a complete waste of time (but sometimes hard to fight off!)
Keep up with the good thoughts & prayers.
Steve
