It is Sunday and very quiet in Genoa. Most of the stores are closed and our fruit vendors in our neighborhood have the day off. Even the "ladies" are scarse.
Len was moved today from ICU to the neurosurgery ward where he was briefly before surgery.
I received the call about 1 pm and had until 2pm to see him before afternoon visiting hours were over. I had to rush out of the apt and made it to the hospital in record time. He was very warm because he has to wear more clothes and had one arm tied to the bed to prevent him from taking everything off(silly man). I told him that "little did the staff know you can use your right hand too. That got a smile from him. There is no air conditioning in the ward but luckily it has cooled down here a lot so not as bad as it was a few weeks ago. He had been receiving very special care in the ICU so this is different for him. He is still getting good care but the nurses have many more patients to see than the nurses in ICU.
We returned for evening visits and both hands were tied down. I was glad to see that because it meant he was trying to reach with his right hand. We spent about an hr with him. We could tell he was uncomfortable and felt he was in a strange place but we are glad he is here in this ward rather than some of the other choices ICU could have made(Thanks Markus)
Each day brings us closer to home and that is where my focus is.
Love and Aloha,
Sue
