Afternoon in the Neighborhood

Piazza De Ferrari

It is about 4:30 in the afternoon here in Genoa. I decided I didn't need to wait until late at night to post the blog. Only took me about a week to figure that out!
Len is having a really good day. He was having a little trouble breathing yesterday so we were anxious to see him today and when we got to the room he gave us a big smile. He was in a great mood and so we told him several stories from the emails we have been getting. Alice, Gail's mother sent me a funny story about Colin(one of our grandsons). She had been watching the kids and when Gail came to pick up the kids she shared with her mom this. It seems Colin(age 6) was at Gail's stationary store and was trying to talk one of Gail's employees into coming to work for him in his store(Colin's store is in his bedroom). Alice also wrote to me that Carrie was busy outside watering the flowers and telling them(the flowers) stories. We shared this with Len and got a big smile. Lynnette also left pictures of Tristan that Len has been enjoying too. He is also enjoying the audio recordings that Steve has been sending which includes stories from Colin and Carrie. John Week has sent us one of the recordings from our Spring concert (Calling My Children Home) and Len was conducting along with the music. Patti decided a few days ago(with permission) that we should untie his hands when we are there so we did. While we were there Len had an itch on his face and raised his right arm almost to his face to scratch it. We always tie him back a little looser when we leave but I am sure they retie him. (He is tied because he will pull out all the lines, etc.)
Another Great Day!!!!!
You all say how much you enjoy the photos so we thought you would enjoy a little look at our neighborhood in the old town. This area was first developed during the Renaissance so you will see signs of that type of architecture throughout the neighborhood. The narrow winding streets are charming and the store owners are friendly and always say hi to us and ask about Len. There is the bartender nicknamed"cute boy" by Lynnette and Patti, Rashid and Rashid who own the fruit stand directly across from our apartment, and Luca(not pictured) who has a wine tasting every Saturday afternoon at his fruit stand down the street. We have also found a health food store practically at our door step and fresh fish, meat and even a store that specializes in cold cuts and cheese. The first and last picture is of Piazza De Ferrari which is at the top of the little incline as we climb out of old town.
We are very lucky to have found this apartment through Lesa and Markus as it gives us a place to refresh and relax. Thank you both.

Love and Aloha,
Sue and Patti

Patti and Sue,

The little town is so charming. Do you have any idea when you can bring Len home? It seems like he's doing so much better! I just wish for him to have some air conditioning.

Lovelovelove,
Donna
